Our first Gingerbread house

While out doing Christmas shopping, we came across a gingerbread house kit and snatched one up. The girls were good while we shopped and thought it would be fun to do with the girls. Daddy put it together, the harder part and the girls and Mommy decorated it. Cailey loved to decorated it and Reece just thought it was a free for all on the candy. In the end, it turned out great for our first attempt.

Sitting on Santa's Lap

On Thursday, Mommy, Cailey, Reece, Aunt Stacy (and a soon to be born Cheyenne), Grandma, Shannon, Brooklyn, GB, and Deanne all met at the mall to take the girls to visit Santa. Cailey talked about it for the week before and said she was going to sit with Santa and smile to take one picture. Reece is scared of anything Santa. She had been telling us No when asked if she wanted to go see Santa. The girls all looked so cute in their dresses. They played ring around the rosie and looked at all the decorations. The adults tried, without luck, to convince Aunt Stacy to sit with Santa and put it in Cheyennes baby book.

The faces as Santa came down stairs. Reece was trying to get to me from Grandma.

Waiting for Santa, behind where he sits, where they can't see him.

Brooklyn was up first and cried the whole time.

The pictures I took of the girls came out way to light. I think my camera was affected by the flash of the other camera and I was standing in a different spot than when Brooklyn was sitting with Santa. Reece cried the whole time and Cailey cried at first.

The final, best shot picture. Cailey stopped crying but is looking to the sidelines for help. Reece is screaming her head off and Santa isn't even looking. Priceless.

Getting and Decorating our Christmas Tree

Wednesday was supposed to be the first of Mommy's two days off. But she started work at a new store Monday and due to a series of things had to go into work on her day off. Luckily it was an early shift and we were still able to go out and get our tree as planned. There are not a lot of pictures, but we went and picked out a tree, then brought it home and decorated it. Cailey loved putting the ornaments on the tree. Daddy had to keep reminding her that they all didn't go in the same place. Reece was interested in the ornaments but she wanted to look at them and play with them for the most part so we gave her a few of the sturdy ones and let her play with them.

Meet Lucky

Mommy had heard about Elf on the Shelf from her cousin Melissa and her blogging about it last year. It comes with a book and a little Elf. The book tells the story of the Elf who is Santa's spy. He comes to watch over boys and girls and reports to Santa every night while they sleep. He finds a new hiding spot every time he comes back. They are not to touch him, his magic will disappear but need to find him every morning. He came with no name and that is the first part of the game.... to name him. We decided on Lucky and he has been a huge hit. Cailey finds him every morning and constantly reminds us not to touch him. She also is overheard telling Reece how "he goes to Santa's house while we sleep so we have to be good." Cailey was also so excited to show Daddy she found him and show him off to Shannon today. Such a cute holiday tradition.
