Day 5- St. Maarten/ St. Martin, depending on where you are on the island

Our final stop on our cruise was St. Maarten/St. Martin.  This island is split in two, owned in part by the Dutch and part by the French, hence the two different name spellings.  It sure was beautiful.  The Bahamas had pretty water but this beat it.  A pretty teal and clear all the way to the white sand.

On this island, we went to an old sugar plantation, turned resort and we taken in a truck up to the highest point on the island.  From there, we hiked down and took in some beautiful views.

Being trucked up to the point.

The girl tree.
Because it was a working plantation at one point, we saw a lot of the ruins, scattered all over after Hurricane Sandy.

These brass containers were used to bring water up the mountain.
  The well.....

These are tops to graves that were on the other side of the island.  They were dropped here in the hurricane and are extremely heavy so they left them there.
Iguanas everywhere.

The border.  Where the french and dutch sides are divided.
After the hike, we got to ride Segways on the beach.

Getting prepared to ride Segways meant getting hair nets, knee pads and elbow pads on.
